In recognition of AMS Maritime’s virtuosity in Asset maintenance and delivering above customers’ expectations, service level agreements and availability targets, in 2014 AMS Maritime was awarded for the third time the Maintenance Contract for the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) for a period of ten (10) years. This ensured that AMSG has supported AMSA for a total of 24 years.
Within this AMSA Aids to Navigation contract AMSG maintains the following systems:
Maritime and Safety Tasmania (MaST)
AMS Group through its division AMS Maritime, has over the past 10 years successfully supported Maritime
Safety Tasmania (MaST) by conducting planned and
corrective maintenance of the State of Tasmania Aids to Navigation Network.
MaST is responsible for the state of Tasmania’s non-federal (AMSA) Maritime Aids to Navigation and is the owner and custodian for 123 lit navigation aids and 170 unlit navigation aids located around Tasmania.
With an uncompromising environment, Tasmania, whilst rugged and visually spectacular, presents varied challenges for the AMS Maritime team which is accomplished via a unique capability and unparalleled level of expertise.
Scope of Work
AMS Maritime currently maintains, at exceptional levels of serviceability 293 Aids to Navigation undertaking;
- Planned Maintenance and servicing;
- Remedial and Breakdown Maintenance;
- Condition reporting;
- Record keeping of maintenance history and data management;
- Provision of professional advice to MAST in relation to Engineering, navigation aids; and
- Storage of MAST spare parts and consumables relating to the contract Works.
July 2017 AMS Maritime was awarded a new 5-year contract through competitive tender with 3-year option through to 2025, this will culminate in the AMS/MaST relationship to 18 valued years of AMSG providing a complete managed service of Aids to Navigation to MaST. AMSG provides this service statewide from our purpose-built AMS Maritime depot in Hobart.

Department of Defence
AMS Defence has worked closely with all arms of the Australian Defence Force with key projects at Port Wakefield Proof and Experimental Range Establishment, RAAF Base Tindal and Darwin and the Warship Asset Management Agreement – Alliance.
In 2014 AMS Defence delivered an integrated Vessel and Vehicle Tracking Surveillance System to the Land Forces for the monitoring and safety of area land and waters surrounding the Port Wakefield Defence Establishment.
AMS Defence also works closely with prime Defence Contractors in support of the Air Search and Monitoring Radars in support of the Air Services Australia.
In 2016 AMS Defence as part of our role as the Service and Support Agent for the Kelvin Hughes Radar System started working closely with the Warship Asset Management Agreement – Alliance in support of the Navigation Radar System on board the Upgraded ANZAC Class Fast Frigate ships.
AMS Defence has over the past 12 months have attended a number of the Upgraded ANZAC Class ships and carried out full radar system grooms as well as identified and rectified long standing urgent defects that have allowed the ships to complete strategically significant tasking both here in Australia and abroad.
